After an extremely successful Nationwide tour, Taylor has again added to the stack of awards behind his name. After performing in excess of 20 shows across the country in January, Jonny was also nominated as a finalist in the Capital Country Music Association (CCMA) National Talent Quest including Best Male Vocal, Best Duo and two nominations for songwriting co-written with Codee-Lee Down. The two songwriting nominations took out first and second place in their category, and Jonny and Codee-Lee were announced as the Grand Prize winners of the 2012 CCMA National Talent Quest, which has earned them an invitation to perform at the exclusive Trans Tasman Talent Quest in Norfolk Island . The new single 'Young Man' is an emotionally charged song, reflecting on the wasted potential of a friend struggling with alcoholism. In typical Taylor fashion there is an acoustic rock vibe, with strong emphasis on the lead vocal and the ever-so-slight twist of country. 'Young Man' is as satisfying musically as it is lyrically, with the addition of a guest violinist featuring on the track helping to lift the song to new heights. It’s been a long road for Taylor after 10 years in the music scene with some major highs and lows, but he says he wouldn’t have it any other way. “Building a career out of music is a thousand times more difficult than anybody could imagine, especially as an independent artist where you have no choice but to be your own manager, booking agent, publicist, graphic designer etc. It’s a hard road but it’s music that gets me up in the morning and it’s music that I live for”. Other career highlights include winning ‘Best Male Artist’ at the 2011 WA Country Music Awards, performing at the Sydney Opera House in 2008 as an Australian Idol top 12 finalist, receiving a WAM Song of the Year nomination and performing at the Telstra V8 Supercars in Sydney as part of the Telstra Road to Discovery program. Other 2012 touring accolades include main stage performances at the Boyup Brook Country Music Festival, a performance at Burswood Theatre for Australia ’s Got Talent, supporting major artists such as Shannon Noll, Leo Sayer and Daryl Braithwaite and donating time to the Leukaemia foundation and Camp Quality charities. Jonny’s upcoming touring schedule is no lighter with highlights including touring the South West and Great Southern, Wheatbelt and Mid West Region of WA until May, then another Eastern States tour for June
